New Mexico Highlands University is proud to offer equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities to obtain an education that is free from barriers. The Disabilities Services Office, known as ACCESS (Academic Challenges and Cultivating Excellence in Student Success) is a program developed to assist in creating an accessible University community where the students with disabilities have an equal opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of the educational environment. We cooperate through partnerships with students, faculty and staff to empower students and recognize their abilities, not disabilities.

Students will need to complete three key tasks in order to request accommodations:
1. Complete the disability services application.
2. Submit available documentation related to your disability. If you do not have medical documentation our office will work with you to find appropriate and creative ways to your accessibility needs at NMHU
3. Complete an intake interview with disability services staff to review all documentation and determine appropriate accommodations. Students residing in the Las Vegas area must complete the interview in person. Distance education students may schedule a Zoom meeting.
